what about bob?
About Me
My name is Bob and I work in an office all day, so I can play outside when the work day is done. I love to fish, ski, and golf. I am generally at my happiest when I’m doing one of these three activities. Fortunately, my wonderful wife supports and encourages my hobbies.
Some background:
I’ve been fishing since I could walk. I went skiing for the first time when I was a sophomore in college and I took up golf about 5 years into my professional career, but I didn’t start fly fishing until July of 2020.
Living in the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, there are a lot of great locations for fishing nearby. Some mornings I only drive about 15
minutes and some mornings I drive a couple hours each way in search of new fishing holes. The exploration is definitely part of the fun for me.
For the Love of Fishing
I just love to fish. Any kind of fishing. Although I’ve recently developed a passion for fly fishing, I still love to get out my other fishing gear. If I’m not standing in the middle of the river with my fly rod, you might find me sitting in my kayak flipping lures with spinning gear, shore fishing at the beach, or even ice fishing (I do live in New England after all).
Why do I fly?
Whenever I get home from fishing, my wife almost always asks, “How was fishing?” Sometimes, I’ll reply, “It was a nice day. I caught X number of fish.” Other times, I’ll just say, “It was a beautiful day for fishing,” which she’s learned simply means I didn’t catch any fish, but still had a lot of fun.
For me, fishing is its own reward. Catching fish is just a bonus.
